4670K paired with a 1070?

Hemanse

Been thinking about upgrading my PC, i would like to take the step up to a 1440p monitor, but also currently "just" run a 970. Im thinking about selling the 970 and getting a 1070, but im also unsure of how its going to run paired with a 4670K, currently overclocked to 4Ghz, but can go higher, i just like my rig quiet, so im just running 4Ghz with a NH-D14 with 1 fan @ 800rpm. Plan would be to get a 1070, upgrade the CPU cooler to a AIO, i love the NH-D14, but its so fucking huge and probably the case since my CM Trooper case really just is a piece of shit, just havent been bothered to replace it yet :) I guess my question is, my 4670K going to work out just fine with a 1070?

I mean i would love to upgrade more, but i also feel like its worth waiting for Ryzen to release before upgrading more.

Ryzen 7 3700x, MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, 16GB Ballistix Elite 3600MHz, MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio, Corsair RM750x V2

yup no bottleneck

Sounds good, almost feels like a waste replacing it with the sad things Intel put out each year, hope Ryzen shakes things up a bit.

its going to work and be a pretty good 1440p machine but the I5 4670K will bottleneck, even my I5 4690K running 4.7GHz will

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

for the most part the 4670K will not bottleneck the 1070. but the latest games, such as watch dogs 2, will bottleneck it a fair bit. also minimum frame rates will be slightly lower than if you had an i7. though this is a bigger deal if you have a 144hz monitor, so you can maintain a more consistent, higher frame rate.

I will be fine.   Actually it will be really fine.

I run a 2500k with GTX 1070 (EVGA SC) on 1440p monitor at 144Hz.

the 2500k does run hot (95%+) but the games all play fine at 80-120 FPS+++ depending on game

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well my $1000 card works better then my $650 one. How ever much this 1080 cost.

Thanks for the inputs, looks like im gonna be good, as i said, i also do plan on upgrading parts like my CPU etc later on, but i also feel like waiting for Ryzen. Now i just gotta figure out which card to pick, so far i have my eye on the Palit GTX 1070 Jetstream, seems like the best bang for the buck card around here (Denmark). Should also be able to get a little bit for my 970.

Is it still a lottery when it comes to coil whine?
