Well the i3 isn't a quad core CPU, compared to the i5. It only has 2 cores it "acts" as a quad core CPU because it has hyperthreading. As for the i5 it's an acutal 4 core CPU. :)Which games take advantage of them.

So if i want the best performance then i should go for the i5?

I've had both i3 and i5 and I can guarantee that there is a HUGE difference between them. I do not recomend the i3 at all, given that it bottlenecked my R9 270x, with a 1050ti or RX 470 (you should get the 470) it will be even worse. The build @stconquest recommended is the one will perform the best, given that it has both a better CPU and a better GPU

Deal on a HDD, only 5 left:

Do you think it would be worth spending a bit extra and getting a 4gb rx 480?

Sure, IIRC they're about the same value. If you're willing to pay a little more then I think it's definitely worth it.

The 470 will run any current game just fine on a 1920x1080/60Hz monitor.  If you want to run games a little better and can dish out the cash, the 480 is a decent jump.

If you save up and grab a decent 480 (8GB), something like the XFX GTR, you will likely be able to push it over 1400MHz and start creeping up on Fury level performance.

Would the 8gb bottleneck at all?

Depends on the program you are trying to run.  That 6400 has a stock speed of 2.7GHz and a boost clock of 3.3GHz.  It is a bit sluggish.  There will be games that reach the limits of the CPU first, and some others that will tax the GPU fully first.
