Ok first, this has already been said but, for amd you absolutely must wait for zen.  If you cant wait you would have to go with a intel i5 6500 or i5 7500

Second, for a 1k build you do not need a GTX 1070, I would go with a rx 480 or gtx 1060 or gtx 1050ti, unless your friends monitor is 1440p.

Third, with the cash from down grading the graphics card, you should get an ssd 128-256 gbs for his operating system and most played games

Fourth, get a wd blue caviar instead of the black for the hard drive (the black is not much better and won't make much of a difference

Fifth, I believe that the oem windows needs an optical drive, the regular one doesn't

Sixth, look for some reviews for you psu, psu's are a tricky thing, some psus are really bad

Because for a $1000 build you can do much better than that

Like, RX 480 and 1060 ar 50% more performance. 1070 is double the performance

The 1050Ti is pretty much only meant for systems like $600 or less. It's not THAT good of a card in a vacuum, but it's good for the price. And if you've got a $1000, there is no reason to even consider it.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

iPad Air 2 (for school)

iPhone 6

Xbox One Forza 6 Limited Edition Blue

True, but it gets pretty good fps in AAA games

Yeah, for 1080p, it's a decent card. But if you're looking at playing heavy games like modded GTAV, Witcher 3, Crysis, and generally harder games, it will struggle if you're pushing higher settings, trying to stay above 60 FPS, or playing above 1080p. I have a 970M in my laptop, which, performance wise, is almost exactly as powerful as a 1050Ti (albeit more expensive because of last gen. and being mobile). It's fine for 1080p and 21:9 1080p which I use, but I'm not too much of a triple A gamer.

Can confirm however that you can stay above 50 FPS in GTAV with high settings.

Remember taxes/ Environmental handling fees/ shipping can be a real pain in the butt if you dont allocate some of the budget towards that.
