4k HDMI Question

choutz1

no

its a cable, and its digital. it'll be the same. you do not need that, and the hdmi version depends on the graphics card and the display.

It's 4K 240 hz because the tv takes in 60 hz but then adds in frames in between to make the image look smoother. Any hdmi 2.0 cable will do.

Also don't get "high speed" hdmi cables. A "high speed" $100 hdmi 2.0 cable will have the same bandwidth as a $10 hdmi 2.0 cable. It's just marketing B.S.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

As long as the cable is decent quality build (10 bucks or less also does that)  you are ok unless you consider going over very long lengths from several meters.

However the connectors matter from the devices. If the 4k tv only has a HDMI 1.4 you can only do 4k 30 Hz. You need HDMI 2.0 ports for 4k 60Hz. Also the TV will still display it as 60 Hz. 240Hz is not actually the refresh rate of the screen in case of the TV (I think 99% of the cases). TV's use trickery techniques to simulate higher fps, because source material for TV is 60 Hz or below. So you have no actual 120 Hz screen.

Still is no problem, because the reason I use my PC on a TV is for the screen size and being more immersive (great for games like Witcher, WOW or RTS games, but if your friend plays competions in FPS games he might want to consider taking a monitor wiht high refresh rate instead. Input lag is also very difficult with TV's, there are not many TV's that have acceptable input lag for PC gaming.

Also on a side note: now ay you gonna run 4k 240 HZ on any card setup currently :)

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

this will work just as good as that one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014I8T0YQ/ref=twister_B016I3XG0S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

also there is NO SUCH THING as an HDMI cable that does 4k 240Hz, the TV doesn't even do 240Hz, it uses software to try to create the ILLUSION of 240 Hz when in reality it's 60 Hz because 60 Hz it what ALL 4K TV PANELS ACTUALLY ARE. heck 4k at 120 Hz is only just coming to the recently announced HDMI 2.1 spec which NO CONSUMER DEVICES have at this time.

Scaling is a WINDOWS issue, not a cable issue, changing your cable won't effect your scaling.
