why sli, id just get a single gtx 1070 or 1080.

980 even does 1440p in most games nicely.

Source: I own a 980 G1 Gaming and it's run every game I throw at it, at high settings. Except Arma 3. Because R.I.P performance in Arma

1070/980/980ti will run 1440P comfortably. AMD 480 8gb would be fine also. For 4k better to go with a strong card so you can SLI later when games are harder to run at that res, so a 1080 for now

No, and yes. But that's your fault for having a weak sauce power supply. Your power supply even lift Bro?

Greater undesired heat output into the room would only be helped slightly by having a very nice power supply...

Sig under construction.

What hassle? Plug em in, use the sli bridge and play. Very few games (big games anyway) have zero SLI support. I SLI'D (cant speak for crossfire) 2x 970's for around 17 months and only Just Cause 3 was an issue out of around 80 + games. Power shouldn't be a concern, if it is buy a console, PC's will always use more. Heat, well ye, I was on water

It would still consume less power than a single R9 Fury though xD

You can get a new 480 which performs better for that much (assuming USD).

Med settings really should be easy enough on most mid-tier cards nowadays.

Yes, but if you really like GTA or Overwatch, the GTX 1060 which costs just as much performs much better.....
