Ok, I found it hilarious, and I thought you guys might.

 

For those of you having no idea about Diretide, Valve=Volvo, ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つGive Diretide, Hats

and if you wish to understand what this 'hilarious' thing is,

 

Background of Diretide

Dota 2, Valve's 'new' most popular game, had a Halloween Event last year, called Diretide

This was a new mode for the game, giving away rare items and rewards which had slim chance of acquiring in normal game mode

 

This year, for some reason, Valve did not patch the players with Diretide, and players are not happy, especially the new ones who could not experience it last year(the game was on closed beta last year).

 

Background of emoticon "༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つGive Diretide "

This emoticon started out in one of the live game casting in Beyond the Summit (BTS) kinda originally " ༼ ᕤ◕◡◕ ༽ᕤ PUNCH HIM " (Original had a different weird face)

It became viral as other emoticons did in the past, and has evolved into GIVE DIRETIDE version.

 

Background of Valve = Volvo

For some reason, Valve is called Volvo. Since centuries.

I think its simply because they both have letters Vlv, only vowels different.

 

Backround of hats

Valve added Halloween Hats (items) in one of their games, Team Fortress 2.

TF2 = Hat simulator FPS

you can pay for volvo games with hats lol

Enough history lesson.

 

Players had been posting GIVE DIRETIDE on Valve's Facebook for quite a while.

Valve made no response, and people got fed up spamming on Valve's wall.

 

They decided to post and spam on Volvo's page (real Volvo!)

Literally EVERY recent posts and photos Volvo had made have been spammed with ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つGIVE DIRETIDE

 

Volvo, instead of deleting the spams on literally EVERY posts and photos, they replied to players

 

Shared by BTS casters, this when viral and Volvo's page got additional thousands of Likes. The comment itself got 2000+

 

 

I like how Volvo is picking up the advantage of young audience giving attention to Volvo, which would not have happened if Valve wasn't called Volvo.

Volvo just got free advertising from Volvo.

Dota is the original MOBA (moba = games like LoL), which has some serious history of success.

So Dota2 has pretty solid hardcore fans and players, ofc millions of new players cant be ignored.
