vega is expected to be high end card the demo of vega that showed off is similar to  gtx1080, remember the demo is a pre-production using with unoptimized drivers. i am expecting something great from amd no hype just wait.

Whaaaat? That means Nvidia have to step up their game if a Titan XP will be equivalent to a midrange Vega card.

That, is highly unlikely. Most likely the top end Vega card will come close to the Titan X.

But Nvidia will be stepping up their game, and for that we thank AMD.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

please no hype its a demo, we will have to wait but i am hoping they make a card more powerful than titan xp then Nvidia will have produce something better vise verse. competitive leapfrog game at its finest.

It's not unlikely. AMD would be stupid to release GPUS that are on-par with GPUS that have been out for months. If Vega doesn't beat Pascal by a decent margin, I'd consider it a bust.

Personally, I see it like this. Polaris has better IPC then Pascal. Clock for clock a RX 480 is roughly the same as a 1080. Vega IPC will obviously be better then Polaris and if the clock speeds of Vega are 1600-1700Mhz stock then in theory it should be quite a bit better then Pascal. Especially if they OC to 1800-1900Mhz. Obviously none of this except for Polaris IPC being superior to Pascal is confirmed

Polaris IPC is good? Lol. I wish.

Much better then Pascal. Pascal is good because of the high clocks it can achieve. I forget the link but someone got a 480 to 1900-2000Mhz and it was onpar with a GTX 1080

All the people I've talked to and listened to that have connections have little hope of such things happening.

HBM2 is going to add over a hundred bucks to the Fury X replacement. That has to come out of somewhere and the GPU is the most likely place. Vega should be competitive, but it very unlikely to be significantly better than Pascal, at the same price point.

But every indication is that it will be competitive, and that's all that matters.

I feel like I'm missing something.

A 2000MHz RX 480 beats a 2000MHz GTX 1080?

That's nice but frankly, AMD isn't comfortable with shipping anything over 1266MHz for a reason. Polaris scales badly in terms of power and clockspeed.

Keep in mind that we might see the launch of the new GTX2000 series @ CES

More like 11 Series (GTX 11x0) or 20 series (GTX 20x0).

I can tell you that I've been told Nvidia's got something bigger than the 1080ti planned. I live in Vegas, and have friends. *wink*

I've heard that AMD will cut down the memory bus from 4096 bit to 2048 bit for the Fury X successor.

I know at least one of the cards will have GDDR5, and possibly GDDR5X.

Nvidia's got their pricing perfect. Even if the Vega cards are better, Nvidia will just drop the prices. Hopefully AMD has that Polaris refresh ready too.
