By august we had tons of cards (AIB and Founders) available in my area (Victoria, BC) Even some of our small "mom&pop" stores were stocking them.

Yep, local store has had them since launch too. 

 

I'm actually pretty excited about the announcement. Not sure if I'll trade up from the 980tis, but the thought has crossed my mind.

Although the gpu launch is a small part of "big news" they have been hinting at, which means big things for autonomous cars and deep learning aficionados.
