Please let me know if the quadro graphics card better than the ones I am using now: the below is the configuration.

Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5inch SSD Storage
2x Samsung XP941 512GB M.2 x4 SSD Storage
2x Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX DirectCU II OC GPU
Crucial DDR4-2133 64GB ECC Reg. (8x8GB) Memory
2x Intel Xeon E5-2643 V3 3.4GHz Six Core 20MB 135W CPU's
Asus Z10PE-D8 WS Motherboard
Seagate 4tb x10nos
Asus 16x Blu-ray Burner SATA (black)
Atech PRO-57U USB 3.0 Internal Card Reader
Fractal Design Define XL R2 Titanium Grey w/ Window Case
EVGA SuperNOVA 1200W P2 Power Supply
2x Noctua NH-U12DX i4 Fans
Case Fans Upgrade Kit (Quiet PWM Ramping)
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OEM

currently using the gtx 980 4gb version. also will there be any performance change if the card is replaced. please let me know.

I forgot to mention that I will be getting the Quadro m6000 version and the above mentioned specs are of the server where I usually render the vids from animation tools such as 3ds max, maya and so on. that is the main purpose of the server. Also I sometimes using to convert vids as well..

SEEING ALL THE COMMENTS I HAVE DECIDED TO GET ONE GTX 1080 \ GTX980TI THEN IF NECESSARY I SHALL BUY ANOTHER ONE.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS.

ALSO THE EXISITING CARDS (GTX 980) WILL BE USED ON MY DESKTOPS. WHICH CURRENTLY HAVE THE GTX 750 TI....

It depends on which Quadro, but for consumer workloads they are not recommended.

it sounds like a workstation

a workstation for some a serious professional

a business expense?

have you done research into the software you use itself? will it work better with a quadro compared to a geforce card? (because i doubt anyone on this thread has actually used a system like this

if time = money then yes get the quadro, expense it

the reason for this is because currently one of my animation rendering takes about 12 - 16 hours roughly with two of gtx980 but if I opt for the quadro will it reduce the time, there not time limit but ther server is currently on for about 24/7 if the render time is reduces then I might turn it off once in a while that why..

Get a 980 Ti, or two of them used / refurbished. I don't think the price of a Quadro for strictly rendering is worth it, modeling maybe if you manage to exceed the VRAM of consumer GPUs, need Quadro support for your specific program, or can't fit a side facing power connector that most consumer cards have. That or go for broke and get two Titan XPs?

Quadros are rated for 24/7 use, but I run my 980 Ti for rendering and haven't had any issues in my server. However, you will need to be mindful of the overclocks. Overclocks that might survive games might not survive heavy rendering loads. My 980 Ti had to be slightly reduced on clock speed to stay stable, still managing 1.5GHz though.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10532978/difference-between-nvidia-quadro-and-geforce-cards

  • Quadro's are better at drawing lines (probably a software limitation on GeForce) which results in higher framerates when rendering wireframe models
  • Higher double precision performance (same with Tesla)
  • Warranty
  • Better driver + multi monitor support

Not a big difference between the *titan x and Quadro for rendering.  In fact the Titan XP was a little better in some cases.

Also with rendering cards, you could save a 980 (or both if your mobo supports 3).  Not for SLI mind you, but purely for rendering workloads.  The GPUs are capable of running independently.  If you want to replace both cards, I'd wait for the 1080ti.  But if you must have it now then the titan xp will do fine.
