$1200-ish if you built it yourself. Prebuilt prices vary.

But no way am I going to pair a i7 6700 and a GTX 1080 with a mediocre EVGA 500W W1/B1.

There's your problem. You're using the UK's prices which are vastly different from America's. Some clarification earlier on would have been appreciated.

Roughly about $1500usd unless you can get some decent discounts. but i would definitely go for a bigger better PSU. A 650-750W will cost you $20-30 more, but it's a must with a beast like the 1080 and the I7.

I thought US prices were the same? even so, surely a build like this wouldn't cost as cheap as $1200? it would be cheaper to ship from USA!

Not at all, electronics are cheaper in the US than they are in most of Europe.

As for shipping, the cost of shipping alone will almost offset the price difference, there's a high likelihood of it getting damaged during shipping and you'll be stung with import taxes and all that stuff.

Well if you can build this same system for $1200, then that would be £960, so I'd have £600 shipping fee's/tax to even get to same price it costs here.

It's low on the PSU tier list. Tier 6 I believe. Do yourself a favor and get a good one now, like the EVGA G2 550W, put in the extra money now rather than potentially on a new MoBo and/or CPU in the future.

PC Specs

i7 6700

Asus H110-PLUS

ASUS STRIX 1070 8GB OC

EVGA G2 550W PSU

3TB HD & 255GB SSD

CiT Galaxy Evolution

Upgrades

EVGA G2 550W PSU

Asus Strix GTX 1070

NZXT S340 ELITE BLACK

If it worked like that, I'm sure nobody would be complaining. Shipping, import duty, GST (or VAT for you Brits) will basically kill the prices. Plus, if a part breaks, you're most likely going to have to send it back overseas for a RMA.

If you were in the good ol' USA:

-i7 6700K can be had for $300 ($250 in Microcenter). The i7 6700's pricing is all over the place.

-RAM goes for about $60-70.

-GTX 1080 can be had for $560.

-250GB SSD normally goes for $70. If you're really lucky, you can pick a 750GB for $100 although that's a once a year thing.

-3TB HDD can be had for $70.

-PSU is some mediocre EVGA one. $30.

-Mobo can be normally had for $60.

-Case is about $60.

In fact, there was a prebuilt on sale a couple of weeks ago which sported identical specs; i7 6700, 32GB DDR4, 1TB HDD, 240GB SSD, GTX 1080 and Windows 10 - all for $1300. Arguably has better specs and also has Windows so the extra hundie can be justified.

Yeah but you're basing your prices on the lowest quality of everything, do a part picker of my exact build and see what the price is
