How do I dispose isopropyl alcohol?

Hey guys,

 

I have a bottle of isopropyl alcohol. How do I dispose it safely?

It leaves a smell that goes away after a while, and it can remove a lot of things... and make them temporarily flammable  I've used it to clean thermal paste stains from my fingers/clothes before, so I don't see why it couldn't remove a food stain or something. Just don't do it regularly... it can also remove pen from walls and stuff c:

It does dry it out, but I just wash my hands afterwards. As I said before, don't do it regularly, products designed for removing stains are MUCH better at doing so.

As I said already, just don't use it to wash your hands or something, and only use it for stains where the closest thing to clean it would be the alcohol.

You can apply isopropyl alcohol topically(it's an antiseptic). But if it's a deep wound, use something else.

I actually used to use it like hand sanitizer.

All I got was chronically dry skin, and I think that was half due to winter.

 

As for the OP, it's not a hazardous chemical with special disposal procedures.

Just wondering as 300ml of that has remove a lot of thermal paste.

There's literally no reason to get rid of perfectly good isopropyl alcohol... It will never expire or go bad (It will slowly evaporate if the cap is left off though).

 

Keep it. Isopropyl alcohol (also known as "rubbing alcohol", as I will now call it) is considered a "standard household good". It has many uses around the house.

 

Most commonly used as a solvent or cleaner, or for medical applications.

 

You can use it to clean and disinfect a shallow wound (warning - it'll hurt like a bitch) before bandaging it. You can use it to clean many things around the house, including stains. It's quite good for cleaning glass. Don't clean a Monitor/Display though unless it's a glass screen. Rubbing alcohol can damage plastic based Monitor displays.

 

tl;dr, keep it in your medicine cabinet in the bathroom, or wherever you keep cleaning supplies.

In all of those cases, I cannot imagine why you would choose to get rid of isopropyl alcohol, unless you already had an abnormally large supply of it.

 

In case you were moving or getting rid of clutter, there are many more things you should get rid of first before even remotely considering something like this. Useless knickknacks, unused clothing, old movies or games, furnature, etc. Stuff you could sell, for example.

 

And if you absolutely, without a doubt, must get rid of it, you should try to give it to a friend or family member instead of just dumping it.

 

Now, with that in mind, are you moving house?

Lots of people are wimps, and will wince or cry when using hydrogen peroxide, or even polysporin (anti-bacterial/anti-inflammatory topical cream).

You certainly could, though I don't think it would be all that exciting. They are a good fuel, and will burn relatively well, but the burn is slow and steady, and not explosive or intense.
