I am almost done saving the $$$ to finish my 2560x1080p gaming beast, and I have been through the Brazilian websites for hardware for a while now. My idea is to buy the Zotac GTX 1070 Founders Edition, for one its cooling system will aid the air flow of my system, I love the reference card looks and I am aiming to for a GPU that can do literally any game on maxed settings for that resolution keeping 60+fps. And for last reasoning for the price reality here this is one of the best cost-benefit on our market right now.

Now I have come across a situation where one of my boyfriend's best friend, an enthusiast is building himself a full new build and he will keep only some parts of his old to have a 2nd pc, he had running for 1 year a Titan Black in SLI, now he'll only use the primary and the second card he wants to sell for the exact price of that 1070 brand new I have my eyes on.

So to make it short; Brand New GTX 1070Reference vs 1 year old Titan Black Reference.

They both have similar performance if I remember correctly so I would go with the newer card. Also isn't the Titan black and a titan x 2 different gpus? I've never heard of a titan x black.

Titan Black is a big no, no.

Titan X is fine, but it would have to be cheaper for you to buy it IMO. I would look out for a used GTX 980ti or maybe even a FuryX or R9 295x2.

A Titan Black is equivalent roughly to a 970. While a 1070 is about the same as 980 in SLI

I see, well I did went through few benchmarking I saw the 1070 seemed better but sometimes in real world performance you never know, I'll keep on looking since I'll just be buying mid january however I make sure to avoid the Titan Black now on, I am considering used and brand new just want a good deal, nvidia only though.

Well it the rest of the system can handle a 1070 go for it.

I prefer to use a single Titan black over a 1080. But that's just me. And to be honest I would never buy a 70 series anything.

Just go with what everyone else will say, 1070 or some hair dyier from the red team.

Why is that so? People here seem to be sure the 1070 can outperform the Titan Black, considering they are about the same price and the 1070 is brand new it doesn't seem to make much sense.

I would love to simply buy a 1080 but the cost jump from the 1070 to the 1080 is almost doubling the price while the performance does not double at all xD I have been giving an attention eye on old Titan X (Maxwell) now on websites to see if I can get a nice deal, would you be thinking of that one?

Really not sure, but the Titan X does look prettier than the 1070 when it comes to reference look which is what I'm looking after. And used hardware does lose a lot of its value what may let me do a fine deal. I did mention before, I am not a fan girl but I am not interested on AMD cards.

The 1070 will out perform it a Titan black. So does my 1080. But I play better on 1080p as it would seem and the old card runs better at that res. Between all the driver issues, bf1 issues and having old gear, I prefer to use what works.

I assume you will be on 1440p or higher. The Titan x or 1070 will give you great frames regardless. Just depends on how much you feel like spending. New 1070 would prolly be your safest bet.

Planning on 2560x1080p ultra wide, 1440p and higher monitors aren't a thing in our market  yet, you only find a very tiny amount of offering for very high prices, even though I am aware that a 1060 can do fine enough in 1080p I want to crank everything on ultra and be considerably future proof till 2020/2021 when I'll build a whole new system.

I feel quite safe about going with the 1070, I just got into the whole Titan X Maxwell deal because I can find it for the same price I'd pay for the 1070 on the used market, It is a lottery I know but we always want to make our money count for the best possible.
