My case has 2 input and 1 output fan

I connected the output fan to my motherboard since i didn't want to use adapters and my motherboard only supports 1 chassis fan.

And i connected the input fans to my power supply.

Is it bad to have the output fan only connected to my motherboard because when i start up gta 5 it runs very smoothly in buildings and outside but after a while its still very smooth outside but inside it gets really laggy and there isnt a dust issue. Please help

All fans will run on 12v, either from the power supply or from the motherboard.

The fan connected to the motherboard may have its speed adjusted depending on some things. For example, you may have in BIOS an option which lets the BIOS adjust the fan depending on how hot the processor is.

In this case, depending where you are in the game, the processor may be less used which means it will cool down a bit, which means the fan on the cpu won't have to spin that fast, which means the bios may tell the fan connected to that motherboard header to slow down. If you disable those features and tell the bios to never adjust fan speed, the fan will spin constantly at the highest speed, just like the ones connected directly to the power supply.

It has nothing to do with dust, or with a particular game, it most likely has to do with how much your processor is loaded, how much heat it generates through work. Less cpu intensive parts of games = less heat produced, so less fan speed.

So why does it start lagging in the game after a while in buildings after a while? and not when i start the game?

Your fan setup will essentially cause positive air pressure in the case, which generally is what you want. Check your temperatures around the time the lag starts (I assume by lag you mean drop in FPS, not actual network lag).

Assuming your temperatures are reasonable, try lowering your settings in game.

What lags, the game, or the fan.. are we talking about fan speeds or what?

If fan speed.. probably because in buildings, there's less stuff to draw, less complexity to each scene (smaller spaces, don't have to draw things far away), so the processor and the video card don't have to calculate so much stuff, therefore they cool down, therefore the fan in turn may be slowed down by the BIOS if it's configured to adjust its speed along with the temperature of the processor, or the video card.

If you mean game lagging inside buildings, well probably because if you stayed outside for a long time, the game dropped the textures with inside buildings from the video card's memory to make room for exterior textures.. when you go in a building, the game has to load the textures as they have to be drawn on the screen from the hard drive, convert them in a format suitable for your video card and graphiccal settings and then use them.

Dude , Kindly do the following

  • Download and install Msi after burner
  • enable the OSD  (make it show the following stuff )
  • Cpu usage , Gpu usage  and clocks
  • Gpu Temp , Cpu temps  ( u can use HWmonitor for this if not found )

now run the same scenario , screen shot it when it lags and post it

Assuming that the game is lagging

Also post Ur Pc specs

If u are talking about the fan , if it is a PWM fan its speed will vary according to the loadvand the prescribed fan curve so no worries as long as ur pc is at normals temps with no throttling

Here are the images

First on outside

2nd one inside

The performance of the inside gets better but only after quite a while.

Just to get things straight: Connecting the fan to the PSU (molex adapter?) has nothing to do with FPS.

FPS are much more related to what Hardware (CPU-GPU,etc) you have. It is possible for a PC to run slower because of dust and temperature. But it is not always the case. If your gpu cant keep up add as many fan as you wish and clean it everyday but it won't perform better.

All things said: Post your hardware info and we may be able to help solving the issue if possible at all.

What are your specs?

Check on your temps when gaming and post them here.

Where is the Gpu clock ? its actually important  ( aka Core Clock )

other than that

Temps are fine , Cpu usage is ok , The gpu is mediocre but works ,

So its either the driver ( not quite sure ) or its the game ( too much detail or an issue with the game it self )   , have u tried reinstalling the game ?

if ur gpu is running at full clocks inside then its from the game
