Hey guys so i just built my pc with the following specs:

Asrock z170m extreme4 mobo (m-atx)

Intel 6700k

Corsair H100i V2

Gigabyte gaming gtx 1070

Dual 850evo 250gb in raid0

Corsair rm750x psu

Corsair vengeance lpx 16gb 2 dimms at 3000mhz

My problem is that simply activating the rams xmp profile in bios causes a crash seconds/minutes after booting..

I have had a few blue screens showing "ATTEMPTED WRITE TO READONLY MEMORY" error

I have tried adjusting VCCIO and VCCSA voltages to 1.2 up from 1.05 I didn't have any other options..

CPU is running stock speeds.. so I have no idea what is going on.. does anyone have any ideas what could be causing my crashes?

A buddy of mine just built a pc with the same ram and same cpu on an msi atx board and it worked fine.

XMP profiles have certain voltages they need to run at. 1.2V is the base voltage for DDR4. I doubt it'll do more than 2133 @ that voltage. Bump it up beyond 1.2.

XMP profile is considered as overclocking therefore it's not guaranteed to work and in many case the ram sticks cannot run 100% stable at their XMP profile settings...it happen more than you would think...step down the ram one notch from the xmp profile.

If you download Aida64 you can check your memory profiles like this:

Make sure timings and voltages (both ram and memory controller) are set correctly. If it's still not stable, you need to lower your memory speed or increase timings a bit.

CPU: Intel i7 3970X @ 4.7 GHz  (custom loop)   RAM: Kingston 1866 MHz 32GB DDR3   GPU(s): 2x Gigabyte R9 290OC (custom loop)   Motherboard: Asus P9X79

thanks for the info guys, i'll try using some lower settings.

Would it be more likely that the ram is limiting itself or the processor? I have a second 6700k lying around so if it is the silicon lottery of the processor limiting me, i'd take my chances with the other chip too. (as I said this combo of ram and cpu worksfine for a friend.)
