1070 water cooled vs 1060 strix

I was wondering if it would be better to get a 1070 and then water cool it into my custom loop or should I get a 1060 6gb strix. I am not a hevay gamer and no not need the preformance of a 1070 but I really like having a silent computer. However price is an issue for me. Getting the 1070 adds about $200 to the upgrade. I would use this $200 to get better monitors that I plan to upgrade at the same time as my gpu.

If you don't ho heavy games, grab a cheaper RX 470 or 480 4GB :)

lesser cards will always be quieter. What's your processor? The 1070 will significantly outperform the 1060 and has the extra 2GB, but if you don't need the power ( and you wont ) for a while, get a REFERENCE 1060 and add it to your loop.

You like them for what reason?

 

Render times on AMD with OpenCL or whatever else are just as fast, faster depending on the workload.

 

Might as well got a 1050 Ti then

Huh I did not realize this. Would a 1050 ti be powerful enough for dual 1440p displays?

For games, probably not. I wouldn't go below RX 480 for 1440p

 

For non-games, yeah. Maybe render times will be a bit slower than on cards with more FLOPs.

To play games? No. To use daily for everything? Yes.

 

But I still suggest the RX 470 and a Freesync monitor.

For non-gaming usage just get a 1050Ti or 1060 3gig that stops its fans at idle/light load.
