Asus showed off a 27" IPS 4k 144hz monitor at the last computex but I haven't heard anything else about it, just assumed it was too costly to bring to the market.

If you aren't bullshitting and actually have 2 Titan XPs, two things.

1. If you use that for gaming you're a bloody idiot.

2. Congratulations, you're in the more money than brains club. You're the 0.01%, normal people don't run Titan XPs much less in SLI because THEY DON'T FUCKING NEED TO.

Nobody is going to spend the millions of dollars of R&D required to bring a monitor 1000 people in the entire planet would buy

Isn't it redundant to say UHD 4k? I understand DCI 4K as there is also DCI 2K but there is no UHD 2K.

All 4K monitors are UHD, but not all UHD monitors are 4K.

4K = 4096 x 2160

QHD = 3840 x 2160

UHD = above 3840 x 2160 and below 5K + other demands for specification such as wide colour gamut and 10-bit signal etc.

There is a lot of wrong marketing in this spectrum though. A lot of companies will market something as 4K when it's not. 4K has only a singular meaning, the exact resolution of 4096 x 2160.

Also so what if somebody uses two X(P)s for gaming? If they have enough money for doing that, then who the fuck cares. They think it is worth doing, you cannot tell people if they are idiots for buying something that is the best right now. You might not think it is worth it, but that does not mean it is idiotic, especially if they have plenty of money. You don't know if they a three 4k screens or use those Titan X(P)s for something else than just gaming.

If a person that has a networth of 1million dollars or more is a PC enthusiast, then who the fuck cares if they spend 5k on a desktop or a gaming setup. They have the money for it, they want the best of the best.

There are two definitions, popular and marketing - I'm referring to the latter - the actual standards in product marketing. The certifications. QHD refers to quad full HD which is quad 1080p.

WQHD refers to quad 720p. Not saying it's not confusing and pedantic, mind you. Especially since it's logical that "Wide quad HD" should be bigger than just "quad HD". But that's the corner the fragmented media companies have painted themselves into.

I care slightly, only because two GPU's at that refresh rate means he would have to avoid frame times of 6.9ms, which is going to be next to impossible with SLI or Crossfire. Random micro stutters most definitely ruin the gaming experience.

Would rather see someone roll with one powerful GPU, on a lightboost monitor with something like Fast Sync controlling any potential tears, or use that wicked Lightboost(ULMB) + Gsync glitch to get both at the same time. The things I would do if I were rich x.x

I so hope we will see an 21:9, HDR, 1440p 100hz Freesync monitor at CES this year. Worst case scenario I would have to go for UHD HDR 100hz FreeSync, but I really really want 21:9

What do you mean what on earth would be the point? It's CES, I can't think of a better place for a manufacturer to bring such a product.  That's literally what CES is known for, showing off the newest advancements in electronics.

Sony brought a 400,000 dollar 8 or 16k projector to ces last year. CES is as much a 'bragging rights' competition for manufacturers as it is a place where you can see what you want to buy this year.

Diminishing returns. 120HZ and 144HZ are practically the same as far as the eye is concerned

But it is. You said 144hz @4k is impossible, and i said it doesn't matter because 120hz is pretty much indistinguishable.

@TidaLWaveZ said he hoped we'd get 4k144Hz soon, I said current technology doesn't allow it on a single connector. As for being indistinguishable, that's up to the individual user - it is certanly humanly possible to tell the difference, whether you or I can is beyond the point.

Well we could be seeing 120Hz soon, since DP 1.4 can do 4k 120Hz 10bit with HDR
