Wait for 1080ti or get another 1080

Inrix
Go to solution Solved by PeachyUwUSenpai,

wait for 1080 ti or get a titan xp not sure if titan xp is more powerful than the 1080 ti though. sli is a bitch single card is generally better.

though as some one who also has a 1080 why do you need a more powerful one it runs all the current games on epic ussualy in 0 db mode .

Soooo Supposedly the 1080ti is going to be coming out sometime next year. What do you think would be better to do?

Get another 1080 now (I already have one currently but would quite like to get another to run in sli)

Wait until the 1080ti comes out (If it does or whatever) and then get another one (another 1080) since the price will probably drop for the 1080

Wait until the 1080ti (aftermarket cards so probably sometime mid 2017 maybe) comes out and then sell my current 1080 if I even can and then get one or two aftermarket 1080ti's.

Also does anyone have any input on selling a card to go up one? never done it before so no idea whether it would be worth it or if it would be better to just go with another...

Anyway looking forward to your ideas :)

Alot of games still dip into 40fps, Id quite like to be able to stay near my 165hz refresh rate and have the dips be a little higher. And there are still some that I cant run at a solid 60 sadly... Like Ark or Minecraft :P (All jokes aside mc actually runs at 40ish fps with mods and shaders just btw ;)

And ofc for how nice it would look in my machine, bragging rights and fun :P And whynot burn money ;)

A lovely list of mods:

And then a lovely screenshot of the game with shaders in 1440p:

Just fyi I get around 300fps without shaders :) Its completely normal, shaders just destroy fps but make the game look smexy :P

Not old if you are running shaders mate. On vanilla i remember my FPS drops from 400+ to 60.

It dosn't, I was referring to going up a gpu (1080 -> ti) in relation to that even though I didn't specifically mention it since you noted that sli wasnt worth it, though stuff like ark would benifit.

If the 1080ti will offer the same increase at the cards did in the past, I don't see why you would wait. Couple more frames and selling a card? I'd rather go sli if that's what my needs were up to.

A lot a work for either a lot of gains or minimal gains.

I don't like upgrading ever time something shiny comes out. Might be able to use v sync with a ti though. As a single 1080 can't do it for me. But for that price I can just grab another 1080.

If history repeats 1080ti will be the same as titan as long as you do not need the extra couple gigs of frame buffer.
