Posted December 12, 2016 Which CPU class would be best? The Cpus in question are: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2620 V4 1x Intel Core i7-6800K 1x Intel Core i7-6900K Usage: Premier Pro, After Effects. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Note: this is to clear something up with my colleagues. I vote for the 6800K, but if you object please let me know, or if you have another CPU suggestion specifically for video editing, fling it this way. Posted December 12, 2016 Single i7. Unless your buying the high clocked xeons that are 8 cores and above, go high clocked xeon or i7(normally cheaper) Premiere and after effects like frequence more than cores. Try to give them 3.5 ghz + then as many cores as you can
Posted December 12, 2016 i7-6900k overclocked, or 2x Xeon in turbo which would give you 16 cores at 3.0 GHz.
Posted December 12, 2016 i7 ftw its much better if you are going for investment 6900k or 6800k will be much better as most program don't take advantage of all the cores. the xeon system would be also cool if you take advantage of ecc memory or keep your system on 24/
 Posted December 12, 2016 The dual E5 is absolutely overkill if it's only a single user system. My vote actually goes towards the 6700K with a high end GPU and GPU Acceleration enabled. In a multithreaded load like premiere, your thinking around 2.4ish.

Don't forget that a certain someone created a rendering server that was a dual CPU system to find out that in EVERY scenario where GPU Acceleration was available, a system running the 6700K was actually on par with it. Posted December 12, 2016 I think the 6800 wins for having a higher clock. the xeon looses in my mind without a doubt. Too many core and a lower clock rate. You should have GPU support in video work anyway. ☼ ψ ︿_____︿_ψ_
