Downgrading from 1440p , what monitor to buy?

Justhavocman

Hello everyone , for the sake of not upgrading a gpu every year i decided to downgrade to 1080p , i currently have a Dell U2715H monitor and am looking to buy a good 27" 1080p monitor , budget around 250-300€ max , since i will be selling my Dell for that price.

Huh? Just get a 1070 and then continue to lower settings a bit every year.

i have a 1070 :P i just want to play games at high for at least 2 more years and 1440p proves to be more of a hassle for me.

Every Year? I use my Card since release and still can handle any Game maxed out easy. The 1070 can handle 1440p maxed out without any Problems.

the thing is, we're here to tell you that's a bad decision.

if you want someone help you with what you want, there's salespeople

if you want someone help you with what you need, there's forums

communities like these arent about helping you make the decision you want to make, but about helping you making the right decision. and in pretty much any case, what you're wanting to do is wrong in every way, even your preferred monitor size is honestly.. from having used a 27" TV as a monitor, the wrong decision.

the only reason i'd recommend you ditch that dell and go for a 1080p panel is because you want to scale down to a smaller physical monitor size without it needing to be in your face to be able to count pixels.

(seriously, my eyesight is godawful, and i can count pixels on a 27" 1080p that's not body-length away..)

i'm not seeing these numbers though , witcher 3 for example dips to 45 with hairworks off   , maybe my 2600 is bottlenecking my gpu?

You would be better off getting a new cpu or just turn the resolution down to 1080p on the monitor that you have. Unfortunately it will look weird because 1080p doesnt scale to 1440p exactly
