So, I have a mid 2012 13" macbook pro (non retina w/ i5 3210m, 4 GB Ram, 500 GB Harddisk). I'm planning on upgrading it with an SSD and want to do a clean install, I kinda hate sierra so i dont upgrade to sierra. So, right now I'm choosing between Mavericks or Yosemite. I want my mac to be fast and have a better battery life. Please help and thanks

it's kinda slow for me,

Probably not Serria's fault since your laptop is well within the requirements, upgrade the hard drive to an SSD and it won't be.

I had some issues with my 2010 macbook running sierra, but it is running on standard hd with 4gb of ram. My hackintosh runs sierra like a champ, and I very much enjoy the features.

I would personally say with those specs to stick with yosemite but like others have said either will be fine.

Clone your mechanical hard drive to a SSD. Then replace the hard drive with a ssd.

Superduper is a tool that let you clone your drive.

I am using the same machine. 8GB of ram, 256 GB of SSD. Run sierra like a champ.

You should stick to the latest OS. You said you hate mac os sierra, you haven't even used it. Why do you hate it???

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.
