2nd hand Benq XL2411Z 144hz monitor

xDanielxOossiex

Hey guys! someone really close to my house is selling his 4 months old Benq XL2411Z 144Hz gaming monitor for €200. He says that there is nothing wrong with it and he does have the receipt from the store he got it from.

Would it be worth it? New price of the same monitor is around €300.

Thanks in advance.

Why is he selling it?

I would test it first.

I will definitely test first. He's been 11 years on marktplaats.nl (Ebay owns this website), so I dont think he would really try to scam anyone.

It's not about scamming, but what if he purchased one that has dead pixels or it does something else weird? It seems suspicious to sell a 4-month old monitor. If it were a 60 Hz I guess it wouldn't be as surprising. For example, if he moved from 60 to 144. But why is he selling a 4-month, 144 Hz monitor? It's a pretty specialty item. Is he no longer gaming? Does his wife nag him about it? Is it ugly?

Sometimes people change their minds. I got the same monitor as my first 144 Hz test, and it is a budget monitor in that space where I'd have to pay double to go IPS or G-sync or whatever. And no matter how new it is, once it is used there is a value hit.

Anyway, given it is close to OP so it can be checked out in person, it would be low risk. If it is worth it depends on if there is anything else considered at similar price new or used.

He said there are no dead pixels. Idk the reason why he is selling it.

I think I might check the monitor tomorrow.

Would my laptop be good enough to just test the panel? i7 6700HQ and GTX960M 2GB

You think too much dude.  Stop overanalyzing stuff.  You'll drive yourself crazy.

Test the monitor and make sure it's in good condition and the firmware version is NEWER than V2.  Then if you want it, buy it.

Yes you can use the monitor with HDMI or DVI or VGA.  That monitor is capable of SINGLE STROBING at 60hz refresh rate.  Do NOT enable single strobe at 50hz, however.

Does the laptop drive 144 Hz? That aside, you can certainly display solid colours on screen to help you look for dead.stuck pixels, and colour flatness, any light bleed/glow in blacks. Things like that.
