Intel Xeon Running too hot?

Hey guys, I have just build a new home server running FreeNAS and Plex media server. I have upgraded the server because my old one was unable to convert or transcode on the fly at all.

Now this new server is working flawlessly, live transcoding 1080p videos, but I am afraid the CPU is running too hot?

Its an Intel Xeon W3530 and peaks at exactly 80C when converting or transcoding.

Also this is in a standard Dell machine with a Passive CPU Cooler and 2 case fans located in front of the cooler.

This is a busy server and I am wondering will I do damage always running this hot? Do I need to make a ghetto CPU cooler?

It can in the long run prove to reduce its lifespan, but not drastically. If your worried, i think its a great idea to get some effective cooling on that machine, especially if its busy on a constant basis.

Edit: Erhm, i mean, i tought really old cpu's had way higher temperature estimates, but this is ridiculous, if what Intel claims here is right:

TCASE 67.9°C

Case Temperature is the maximum temperature allowed at the processor Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS).

Ice bucket challenge that thing o-o? Or am i getting this information wrong... i always tought this Tcase thing was misleading and totally of course with what i think it is meant for haha.

Hmm, that's weird.

I'd try running the machine with no top on it to get the maximum amount of airflow. If it gets cooler without the case on, then you're having trouble with case airflow. Try some different fans, or use another case (if applicable).

A ghetto CPU cooler would probably work too, but you'd have to work out what to use.

Hope this helps!

Woahhh 67.9?? I am way past that. The command I'm running these temps on is

sysctl -a | egrep -E "cpu\.[0-9]+\.temp"

I have no idea if that is packet or core temps, but I would assume core.

EDIT: Also it doesn't seem to be throttling at all!

I will try removing the cover and see if the temps improve. From my own opinion I think the case airflow is bad, but I don't think improving the case and also the case fans will drop it down to the TCase temp @VerticalDiscussions mentioned. I think I might have to take the ghetto CPU cooler route

It peaks at 80 what is its regular temps

I believe the idle temps were 42C
