It should be fixed if i'm right, i don't really know. I don't really think that the version of the OS really matters when it is compatible with both.

Get windows 8.1 get used to the new start menu or if you dislike it use something like startisback. I saw a 20 + fps improvement when i switched to windows 8.1

What was your FPS prior and current FPS in the released copy of BF4?

You can see my rig in my signature, and I'm not getting anywhere what some people are with far less hardware and it's making me crazy.

I got used to the new start menu. I don't see a need to go back anymore.

What is the difference between Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 for performance? I don't like 8.1 but if I see an increase in FPS, I'll install it.

2 or 3 fps max on some games, unless your windows 7 install is a mess, then you may see bigger increases, like you would on any clean OS install

I'm saying Windows 8 to 8.1 Not 7.

oops miss read, but probably about the same as windows 8, maybe a little decrease in some games until the drivers mature...

You shouldn't expect big performance upgrades on the same hardware going from one OS to another given that they are both so similar under the hood. especially when its first released, expect poor performance and incompatibility issues for at least the 1st year.

That is why i stick with windows 7, i know its maxing out my hardware and i know its compatible with all my stuff.

Wow, that's sick. I've heard a lot  of guys getting x2 performance after installing Windows 8 from Windows 7.

Is that 80-100 multiplayer or single player?

Edit: I guess I'm a foreigner sometimes?

That's awesome, and irritating because I can't even hold 60FPS.

The peformance increase comes from DX11.1.(It also works on Nvidia GPUs)
BF4 is the first game to use it thats why Windows 8/8.1 gets a big peformance boost its not a bug.

Quote from DICE dev:
“We use DX11.1, there are some optimizations in it (constant buffer offsets, dynamic buffers as SRVs) that we got in to the the API that improves CPU performance in our rendering when one runs with DX11.1. This will be in BF4.”

Here a Windows 7 vs 8 Benchamark from the BETA:
