Need Help Choosing Headphones

Go to solution Solved by ttam,

I have like 40 pairs of headphones ranging from $100 to $5000 and I still rock a pair of HD558's at my computer. They sound great to me, fit great and won't be the end of the world when my cat knocks them off the desk.

Hi,

Im stuck in a situation where I do not know what headphones to buy.
My usage would consist of mainly gaming, with games like CS:GO, H1Z1 being the main ones.

I do not need a microphone as I have a standalone one.

I have previously owned a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M40X ($129 AUD) headphones which were great. However I broke them and could consider getting them again

Other choices which have popped up are Sennheiser HD558 ($209 AUD), Audio Technica ATH-AD700X ($169 AUD) AD500X ($149 AUD) and AD900X ($239 AUD)

Which of these would be best, or any other recommendations

I have 558's as well, they're good :P

In reviews people  say they have particularly good soundstage aiding in gaming but I suck too much in games to really notice lol

my hd 518 works great because it is an open headphone. Its only 75 bucks and it has great sound quality 1600 khz to 25,000 i think

LOL that makes zero sense at all. You are talking about what frequencies it can play, not the audio quality. Also you failed hard at what frequencies they can play, they can play 14 - 26000 Hz, but 26kHz is useless, the normal human hearing is up to 20kHz and that is when they are very young, if you are a teenager then it would be up to around 18'ish kHz.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

The AD series would give you the biggest soundstage, but also less bass than the HD series from Sennheiser. The HD series would most likely be more comfy for a lot of people, because they use a normal headband and you can turn the cups and such.

lol, I love having a good discussion. As long as you can back the things you say up with facts and not just feelings...
