Office 365 for free

i'm pretty sure if your school signed up, there is a microsoft office suite that you can get for free if you use your school provided email.

If you are up for alternatives to office 365 that is free, I would recommend Apache Open office. I personally use it and it's great, they have spreadsheets , slide shows and text documents.

In my opinion, it is a great free alternative.

Microsoft was running a promo at one time for 365 University edition for free. You just need to provide them with a .edu email address if I recall. If not the University edition is only $75 for 4 years. The only difference between standard office and Uni office is Uni office only does 2 machines.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

If your school has gotten Office 365 then you can get it for free.

Otherwise you can use Office Online which is free but has a reduced feature set.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

None. You can either pay one time for Office 2016 Home & Student or get free alternatives. If you're using a Mac, you can use the built in iWork apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote).

forgot to add, if you want truly free without an education program, get the google equivalent of office (docs, slides, sheets, etc). you don't have to worry about saving, it saves for you automatically, you can get free online storage (and you can always download as an equivalent type of document) and it keeps all your files in one spot.
