Took off intel heatsink then put it back on

This was my first time building a pc.

What i did was install the cpu. (i5 6500)

Then i put my heat sink on the cpu. For cable management i wanted to take it off and put it a different way. So what i did is lifted it up realizing the thermal paste was already on the CPU. After i saw that i placed it back on the cpu really quickly under 5 sec. When i finished my build i checked the CPU temps they were 29 degrees Celsius. So by doing that did it affect anything and do i have to do something to fix it?

PLEASE HELP ME

You should replace the thermal paste as you may have created air bubbles. Also, those are just idle temperatures which are largely irrelevant.

test load temps, with idle temps you wont be able to tell if there are any problems

By load tests meaning running games?

A stress test.

Download an AIDA 64 trial and stress the CPU, FPU, and Cache

no need to replace thermal paste IMHO, you're fine with that temps. I recently pulled my dark rock entirely off and put it back on and no change in temps whatsoever. The pressure gets rid of most air bubbles anyway.

Modern CPUs thermal throttle or shut down anyway (if there are some bubbles or so now), so just run some games or AIDA 64 as pointet out above. If the Temps stay relatively cool (approx. under 90 with intel cooler) and performance is on point, don't worry.

It depends on the cooler. Just post your temps after running it for about 5 minutes.

The whole "under x temperature" is not really the proper way of doing it.

For example, if he previously got 70C, but now gets 80C, something is wrong. Something happened. Even if he got 80C at full load both times, something is still wrong as the CPU shouldn't be running that hot, and I would argue that the CPU is defective, even if no one(including Intel) agrees.

I agree there. I just thought he doesn't know the "before" temps, since this is a completely new build (?). I just remember that i had around 87° C with stock cooler under full load, but then again, mine was an i7, not an i5 and also not Skylake, so yeah, I was a bit too fast putting some temps in my previous reply.
