EVGA GTX 1070 8GB FTW GAMING ACX 3.0?

mcraftax
Go to solution Solved by mcraftax,

@Percenary @Reflecting

War over?

I know, they had a thermal problem and they have worked to solve it. It was not as extreme as put but i did happen.

Anyway, i think i will go with the strix because it fits better with the build.

Thanks

As the title says is the "EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB FTW GAMING ACX 3.0" a good card? I can get it for  £400 (UK)

For 1080p144?

Anything wrong with it, there was the overheating problem but i guess that has been solved?

Thanks

Oh god. This card is so shit. The cooling, the sound, the coils.. Just, don't purchase it. Go for a 1440p monitors anyways. Asus strix, msi gaming, and the gigabyte extreme are all much better.

You'll have to get the cooling pads from EVGA if this doesn't have them installed already.

I would check the card when you get it if the thermal pads have been installed. If not you may have to request a couple from EVGA. If you don't want to jump through those hoops, you can just get an MSI or Asus card.

What? EVGA's ACX 3.0 is one of the best coolers, and the FTW card is one of the best 1070s... what are you smoking?

As long as the thermal pads are installed, should be fine. Otherwise you can RMA it for a new one or get the pads and install them yourself.

EVGA is usually pretty good, but they really screwed up this gen.  I'd go for another brand if you can find a good deal.

So are Samsung no longer one of the major/best mobile phone brands because they had a recall?

Lots of companies have recalls, it doesn't make them suddenly turn shit.

Agreed.  EVGA screwed up on one particular product line.  Yes it will tarnish their reputation, and I wouldn't buy that product, but I wouldn't write them off for future products.

Sounds like an issue with you not the GPU considering it takes special situations for those card to have true thermal complications. Do your research before speaking.

1 hour ago, Percenary said:

They messed up nothing, it was proven that the pads help with thermal issues, but that under even moderate stress testing (more then gaming or anything daily) they don't fail. It was special cases were they failed.

1 hour ago, Percenary said:

What cards caught fire? Please stop passing along poor information to spite a company because you are upset for no reason. You likely have never even owned their products, just stirring the pot.

The only cards that had massive failure were under a situation where they were trying to make the card fail. Even then, it was likely a capacitor that failed.

Moral of the story, the internet is full of idiots passing along bad info. Do your own research and form a conclusion with that.
