Yeah I got very lucky with the memory on it being OC'd to 1850 stable. Might dig around for a BIOS mod or voltage tool for more core voltage so I can try to hit 1300/1350MHz on the core for it and bench it.

Get a 760 and see what you can do with it, the Hawk cards are supposed to overclock pretty well, my score can easily be beat with more voltage which the Hawk can do.

the ASIC quality of my current half dead 7970 lightning is 65.4% is that really bad and is that why it does even like running at stock?

Not always some cards with low asic do extremely well on Air and hate H2o but the lighting is a card ment for water/ln2. So it might be why.

All I need to do is repaste this 280 and flash a new BIOS on it and I'll make it score higher then it was before. I did everything for it on a factory BIOS from MSI which is voltage locked and power target locked.

off-topic but I thought you might like the lengths that I have gone to in order to keep the 280x system from exploding

 

When you buy a "mid-range" cpu cooler, don't assume it will fit in your case just because they make a bigger one...

CPU is pretty much maxed out on air, and GPU's are maxed on air with the max voltage Precision X 16 lets me use. So for now it is all going to rest and my title shall remain untouched until I get a new CPU and figure out voltmodding stuff with my 770's.

now that is a good effort. thats what i do when i'm benching cpu's

With the CPU I have no more head room on it, no matter the voltage it won't hold 4.8GHz for even a second. The GPU's though I have about 100-250MHz left on air if I can get more voltage to them.

Yeah I might have a chance to bench that 970 this weekend also, that is if my friend remembers to pull it from his system when he comes down.

im going to see if I can use precision x to up the voltage, if not ill do a bios flash, but practice on some older cards so I don't accidently brick my 770.
