VR: What's the point?

DutchTexan

I'm pretty sure my machine is capable of decent VR, but I am just not attracted to it? A lot of people are really into VR, but I just don't see the greatness. Mostly, I see jokes about VR porn or people going sight seeing while at home, but is that it?

Why should I take interest in VR? To me, it just looks like a marketing gimmick.

I love VR, I used to game a shit ton, 12+ hours a day. the past few months my gaming went down to 3 or 4 hours a week, then I got a Vive and its amazing, had it for 2 days and gamed more then I did all last month,

For me I love feeling like im in the game and not playing a game, its like im experience it rather then knowing im playing a game, just the way it tricks your mind into feeling like you are in another world amazes me,

If thats not for you then its not, Right now the game selection is not the best so thats the only downside.

even look at my signature lol

Everyone should own a vive.

3D monitors didn't take off but if vr can come down in price like 4k monitors have it might have a chance. it also needs better performance on midrange priced hardware to be established enough to have more games.

I think the current VR is just really a starting point. Once it develops ....years down the road we'll have something great! Investments made into VR are made by consumers and other relevant supporters where the money would be dumped into better research and development right...hence we see some improvements over time.

You're probably not attracted to it at the moment because of how the games look, feel and play but yea.. maybe we can have a legit Crysis 5 in VR and I'd be like....30 years old by that time.... and we'd have a blast!

Yup I am just waiting for the expensive high end VR to settle down more easily into the general consumer market and waiting for improvements to the VR units. Ride on the bandwagon without contributing... I'm terrible but that's how our economy model works.

That is the feeling I am getting; VR still needs further development.

I agree

I am not turned on to wearing a device unless its reasonably priced

Couldn't stand 3d glasses

And if they actually make them comfy along with considering my choice headphones

Sound is way more immersive

with the vive you use your own headphones, and even if you dont have one with a 3.5mm jack you can use hook your USB headphones/headset to your pc set that as the main sound output and it will work the same. just get a USB extension
