Will my GTX 750 run 2K @60hz

I planning on buying a new monitor for graphic design and 3D modelling. my preference was to buy a 27" 4k monitor but I found out that my graphics card is not capable of running 4k @60hz(because of HDMI 1.4-See rig down below).

Because I'm still studying, I'm on a budget and don't really want to also change my GPU so I thought; Maybe My GPU can run 2K(2560x1440) @60hz 

 

My questions:

- Can a GTX 750 run 2K @60hz?

- Would running @30hz be enough for graphic design and 3d modelling only or is this very annoying?(I don't play games on PC)

- My laptop should be able to run a 4K screen @60hz through MiniDP to DP right?

 

Desktop:

Intel Core I5-4460

Nvidia Geforce GTX 750

HDMI 1.4, VGA and DVI

8GB Ram

 

Laptop:

Intel Core I7-3537U

Nvidia Geforce GTX 750m

HDMI and Mini Displayport 1.2

8GB ram

At first I'm confused about the 750 not having displayport, but I digress... 

HDMI 1.4a can do 1440p ("2k") at 60Hz So that should be fine. 

I the 30Hz vs 60Hz for graphic design and CAD is really a toss up... Most programs can't even render the moving object at 60Hz in my experience anyway, so 30 might be fine. 

And yes. DP1.2 can run 4k at 60Hz.

If you are playing old games like pre-2012 maybe. Anything newer than that probably not.

The only game I still play is Skyrim and my laptop runs it pretty well on high settings...

 

But yeah I was also confused the 750 didn't have a displayport but I gotta work with what I got. I'm just afraid of buying a 4k monitor and finding out that working at 30 hz is annoying. The prices between 4K and 2.5*KxD are not really different so that won't be a problem.

 

I think I'll just go with a 2560x1440 then... Other forums also said that 4K is only really beneficial above 32" because you gotta scale windows at 27" and whatnot.

Explaining non techies the so called 2.5K is 75% more pixel count than the so called 2K should be fun.
