I would like to know if anyone has ever tried cutting out small magnetic pads and gluing them to the areas threaded for the case fan screws and then mounting the fans to their case. I was thinking about trying it but I have a small quantity of cheap fans to sacrifice for the project or the time to be willing to try a mod like this. In theory, this will make cleaning case fans a lot easier without having to deal with screws to remove them.

If anyone has ever tried it, I'd like to know what your results were.

This is not a bad idea, though I imagine it will cause issues with fans that are mounted between a hard drive cage and the front of a case.

possibly they wont hold on because of the vibrations caused by the fans themselfs... they will rattle down slowly

I was saying that tape is the solution to the possible vibration issues, tape fixes everything.

No there would be no problems with the HDD unless you have a SUPER powerful magnet that can mess with the linear actuator.

I was referring to the space between the fan and the HDD cage, in my case the drive cage is flush with the front fans, adding a pair of magnets would make it where the drive cage couldn't be mounted.

Anybody willing to try this? I wish I could diagram what I'm trying to say to clarify my point a bit further.

You would have to hot glue some lager neodymium magnets to the fan.

I'll be sure to look into that.
