So recently I have no been gaming muxh becase of the immergin. I cant really seem to immerse my self in games anymore. Before i could smoke a blunt, play skyrim amd feel like im in the game. Not so much anymore so thays why i play more story games to feel connected to people and what not to help immergin. (Dishonerd 2 im  currently aying i loved the first one). But other then that i find myself watching youtube insted of playing games.

So i was thinking of getting the htc vive

But the thing isnits super expensive. It costs as much as my computer cost. I saved up 1k so am i willing to spend 800 of it?

Idk do you think i should get it?

Everyone should own a vive.

I have the Vive for a while now and it's amazing with the immersion. It is however a lot of money to spend and as mentioned by @CaptainBlue01 there isn't much in-depth content (as in long story gameplay, quite literally countable on one hand I'd say).I do recommend trying it out first. It's a lot of fun though. I just am a little hesitant recommending it due to the hefty price tag versus the small amount of in-depth content. There are definitely (imo) great experiences that I'd call quality content though and I still use it at least once a week (Fruit Ninja VR, H3). Sometimes it's the little things that make you appreciate something.

My two cents: is it awesome? Hell yes. Is it worth spending 1k on? If you have the money and nothing else comes to mind, go for it.

First and Foremost have you tried VR before? People still get sick from VR, so do try it out first and see if you like it.

It'd be nice if you could try it somewhere, though for me motion sickness is no issue when games use the teleportation system for movement. It took me just a couple hours or so to get used to it, but that of course can vary from person to person. Only when walking in a wasd-like fashion I still get a bit dizzy.

It really just depends how much $800 is to you right now. If that will force you to eat ramen or not pay bills I would say no. But if you can spare $800 relatively painlessly it is oh soooo worth it. I saved up for 3-4 months and got a Vive about 2 months ago and I love it. There's definitely not a lot of AAA quality games or games with long storylines but I've had so much fun playing Vive games that simply aren't possible on a normal monitor. Games like SoundBoxing, Onward, Rec Room, Accounting, and Zombie Training Simulator genuinely give me experiences that have no equal in normal gaming. And the presence IS there. I've gotten goosebumps multiple times from different experiences and I've even teared up twice that I can remember (And I don't cry often if ever). Allumette and Pearl both had me on the verge of bawling my eyes out, for different reasons.

Also if you're a creator you have so much that you can do with Tilt Brush, Sound Stage, and Oculus' Medium. For many those are worth the investment alone.

Now sure there's downsides; and for these reasons I would still recommend testing one out at a Microsoft Store before you decide. The headset isn't terribly comfortable, some people can wear it for hours, some have a sore face after 30 mins, although adjusting the straps can help a lot. Also the graphics still aren't as good as you get on a monitor. The resolution is still kind of low and you have a limited field of view (Almost feels like wearing ski goggles all the time), but all of these cons are far outweighed by the pro's in my opinion. It's truly a unique gaming experience,so I voted Yes.
