So, with the OnePlus 3 looking a little long in the tooth, I was kind of curious what peple would want when it comes to the OnePlus 4.

This is a list of what I sort of expect from the next OnePlus device. A lot of the points are merely slight upgrades to what they already have.

Dream list:

  • 5.7" 1440p curved display
1080p isn't flagship material. Software tweaks to make use of the curved display.
  • Snapdragon 830
Status quo. I'd prefer a Exynos, but it's not happening.
  • 6GB of RAM
Might as well keep it at the same level they have now.
  • 128GB storage
At this size, I don't think there's much need for a microSD slot. Until they get UFS microSD going, at least.
  • 3600mah+ battery
You have a large phone, up the battery.
  • Quality camera sensor, OIS, gyro EIS, phase detection AF
If they get really crazy throw laser AF in there too!
  • Dual SIM, Dual active
4G data on both SIMS at the very least.
  • High end audio DAC/AMP
I'd like to see them partner with an audio company, and come up with a nicer amp/DAC combo. If ZTE can do it, so can they.
  • Same size aluminium body
No need to up the size, glass back ok if there's wireless charging.
  • USB Type C v3.0/v3.1
With lots of storage, I don't want USB 2.0 speeds.
  • IP67+ weather resistance

If the phone met all of these, then it'll definitely be my next phone. We've got half a year to go, hopefully they go nuts!

What about you guys, what are you hoping for in the new OnePlus phone?

Personally, I think they should have a higher end model, and a phone that stays more in line with their $400ish price point.

There's no reason those who like their company and don't have the financial restraints of others shouldn't get the absolute top spec's.

They're close, just not quite there for a true flagship killer IMO.

Can we please use amp hours

Not all batteries are the same voltage.

Amp hours don't take the voltage drop into affect

It'd be nice if they were rated that way, sadly they aren't.

And? I have no problem paying more. Many have no problem paying more. That's why they should at least have a higher tier phone for those of us who are better off.

It wouldn't really add that much. The memory is a few dollars. The newer SD is what they'd be putting in anyway, and they already have 6GB of RAM. ZTE fit better audio in without increasing the price. Waterproofing wouldn't add that much, nor would a different camera sensor. The only item that might add a bit is the screen.

The way the company's been going I fully expect their next phone to be $499 anyway.

There's just nothing about it that makes it stand out, other than the 6GB of RAM. They've been surpassed by others in the market.

this and good low-light performance and I'm in just as a camera phone

The 3 has OIS, but I hope that they include EIS. It's almost more impressive.

Agreed, good low light is important. Nearly everything can shoot in proper light these days!

Just suck the camera module out of all the returned Notes.

That'd be a deal breaker for me most likely. There's no real reason not to go 1440p, especially if you're after flagship status.

Totally what they should do. Should be interesting to see what they change with the $80 they added to the 3T.
