Well I bought too powerful of a CPU

Hello Everyone,

Me as a newbie builder made a dumb mistake. I am attempting to upgrade my prebuilt system with an AMD 8350. Little did I know, the motherboard can only handle a 95w TDP CPU. So one alert on startup later. I learned that if you try to install too powerful of a CPU in a crappy prebuilt system motherboard, it will automatically underclock. So here i am spending money on a new motherboard :(

Can you return it? I would not even invest on an old AMD 8350

No no no dont get a new mobo for that 8350. It is on a dead socket waiting to be replaced when zen hits in a few months. Its better you sell or return that 8350 and wait for newer stuff to come.

He upgraded his prebuild so he probably still has the previous cpu. He can put that in for the time being.

EDIT: I was trying to say he should not buy a new mobo for his 8350.

I get that ZEN is coming out soon, however I probably wont be able to afford it immediately. So, it makes sense for me to spend 50 bucks now, and if i want to upgrade in a year i can.
