Hello, LTT Community!

I am currently looking to upgrade my prebuilt pc mainly because I can't really afford to build one form scratch so please don't suggest that I do that. The current pc is a Gateway DX4860 with a GTX 950 and a 510w Insignia power supply from Best Buy. The parts that I am looking to buy to upgrade it are

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E250B/AM

Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

I just wanted to know if there are any issues with compatibility, old hardware, etc...

If there is any way that I can make the upgrades even cheaper please let me know.

Also, if I install the new motherboard, will that cause any issues (I don't mind re-installing Windows)

Thank You :)

The current LGA-2011 V3 boards are NOT compatible with the LGA-2011 socket that 4820K CPU uses, it could be a challenge to find an old motherboard for that CPU.

What processor do you reccomend?

Oh that price range, your best bet is an i5, or buy used.

Also, keep in mind that your case may not fit a new motherboard.  You could end up having to buy that too.

I'm pretty sure it's standard ATX. Also, is that processor good for Gaming and heavy programs like Photoshop and Premiere?

For Gaming is fine,  no idea how good it would be for Photoshop or Premiere.
