Hello, LTT Community!

I am currently looking to upgrade my prebuilt pc mainly because I can't really afford to build one form scratch so please don't suggest that I do that. The current pc is a Gateway DX4860 with a GTX 950 and a 510w Insignia power supply from Best Buy. The parts that I am looking to buy to upgrade it are

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E250B/AM

Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

I just wanted to know if there are any issues with compatibility, old hardware, etc...

If there is any way that I can make the upgrades even cheaper please let me know.

Also, if I install the new motherboard, will that cause any issues (I don't mind re-installing Windows)

Thank You :)

What processor do you reccomend?

Oh that price range, your best bet is an i5, or buy used.

Also, keep in mind that your case may not fit a new motherboard.  You could end up having to buy that too.

Mystery is the source of all true science.
