Just get a local account like @Randomguy1911 said, it's so much simpler. I make it a habit never to 'link' my email to my account on personal rig, just keep it local. Unless you REALLY wanna use Cortana or something, it isn't needed. And there's still the option to back up your shit to free cloud sharing services too so you're not missing much by not linking a Microsoft account. Good luck!

Also: YAY for privacy!

You mean "yay for an actually good OS which has syncing features across all your devices which can be enabled or disabled in the options"

Just disable this in the Settings Menu. From then on, it won't copy your wallpaper and etc with Windows.

Using a local account has more implications than many realize including but not limited to:

  • Not being able to download apps or games from the Windows Store
  • Not being able to download Microsoft Edge extensions
  • Not being able to use Cortana
  • Not being able to sync settings across devices for both Edge and Windows
  • Not being able to natively sync your email or calendar with Windows 10

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Seems to be an improvement... But MS will have loads of more privacy compromising things. Never found a good and complete tutorial to fix this issue. Like blocking ALL automated outgoing signals, and block all connections to MS servers or third parties. (hosts file gets ignored with some MS server IP's in earlyer windows versions)
