Mech keyboard massive price drop!

This post has two purposes, to inform people of the insane deals on cherry mx brown, black, greetech blue, etc. keyboards, and to inquire as to why this sudden price drop occurred. For the first time since I've been a PC enthusiast, mech. keyboards with  cherry keys are rolling out at prices UNDER $30 BUCKS! I just wanted to know why? also one of these deals is on a cherry MX black switch keyboard, and I've never even heard about that, does anybody care to enlighten me? Thanks!

Blacks are stiffer Reds, requiring more actuation force (Still linear and virtually silent)

There's a Cherry MX Brown Rosewill on Newegg for $29.99 after $50 MIR right now, and they had the same deal on a blue a short while back. That's hardly new, though. The sub-$50 keyboards I'm seeing for the most part are Kailh or Gaote/Outemu switches, if not even knockoffier knockoffs like Switch Master, Greetech or "MX-equivalent".

 

That said, Switch Master blues actually aren't half bad.

 

Supposedly there's a shortage of Cherry MX Blue switches right now, so I suppose if you're a blue fan and you see a board out there, buy now or forever hold your Kailh?

Yeah, Rosewill products going on deep MIR at Newegg is nothing new. As for the Redragon keyboard, well, I've typed on a Redragon mechanical keyboard, and their switches are far, far from Cherry. I don't know who their OEM is, but their switches feel (imo) like crap. Very stiff and unpleasant, even just over the course of a few minutes typing on a friend's PC. I don't know who those switches are for, but they are definitely not for me.

I've never used them either, but from everything that I've seen on them, they're up there in build quality with the likes of Gateron.

Many companies will advertise an MIR, then either not honor it, or literally take months to process it.

It's a combo of sometimes not being honored and duration as another poster mentioned. When buying anything online I always prepare to either pay retail or prefer direct discounts since I know those will 100% work all the time. 

 

Not saying this wouldn't be honored, but to set expectations that you may be paying the advertised price in the end w/o MIR.
