Posted October 28, 2016 I just installed VMware on my Dell R310 rackmount server. I am now installing Ubuntu. In the install process, it is asking if it should add a new MBR. Should I or would that screw up everything else?
Posted October 28, 2016 What happens in the VM is isolated to the VM, unless you get a virus or something that can spread via shared resources or network. This is probably at the end of the install. The MBR is where the bootloader and the partition table is stored. In order to reformat a drive, you need to make a new mbr. Its normal during a os install or a disk format.
