AMD VS Intel (Please help)

Hey everyone, I have a friend that keeps on braggin about his new PC. He mainly put AMD parts in it, everyday at school he keeps on braggin about stuff that is only Intel compatible. So I thought I'd ask em this...

If you think AMD is clearly better than Intel, then why are most Gaming Users going with Intel CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs?

Please post your reasons about how Intel is better than AMD and on which specific tasks Intel is better

NOTE: MY PERSONAL OPINION IS INTEL AND NVIDIA, I DO NOT HATE, AND WILL NEVER HATE AMD, JUST LIKE PEOPLE

Intel CPUs>>>>> AMD CPUs (at the moment at least)

AMD GPUs are competitive, but Nvidia is ahead of the curve a bit...

You can't really call it a war the way I'm thinking of it, just want to know WHERE AMD is better and where is Intel better.

Not really a war, kind of a research

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

Intel is better.

Any i5 from 6xxx series will beat any AMD CPU in all benchmarks and real life usage.

Intel have hyperthreading that AMD doesn't.

Intel is using less power.

Intel have better cores. If AMD have 4,8GHz on core and intel have "only" 3,6GHz, it doesn't mean that AMD is faster.

If you ask me, AMD is only good for budget builds.

If you are looking for any more intense tasks and higher budget, intel will be always there.

AMD users be like: woooo mate I have 8 core CPU clocked at 5GHz. It's the best. Meanwhile i5 6400 with 4 cores at 3,3GHz is better.

I'm sorry, but for any build that costs 500$ or more Intel is a must in it.

Can you imagine someone running 2x GTX 1080 and using AMD FX 9590? He would be banned from PC master race comunity!

Trust me I don't hate AMD.

I wish AMD would do better job and make CPU that can acctually compete against i5 6600k or i7 6700k.

For users it would be much better because Intel would be forced too either make better chip in the future for same price or just lower price of current chips.

I have some hope for Zen, but untill I see review from Linus/Jayz2cents or anny other great reviewer, I won't comment on it.

Let's just hope AMD can put some competition against Intel once again.

@Praesi

As much as this makes me laugh, I have to give AMD some credit for working on Hyperthreading-ish.

85% better than AMD. That killed me xD

AMD is not very good in CPUs, but they are great with GPUs, hopefully zen will bring the price of intel CPUs down but Intel is still vastly better for the majority of gamers who can afford core i5s or better
I have no idea why people prefer Nvidia over AMD, they are very similar price/performance wise, and they are both very good. Nvidia currently has the lead in high-end performance and efficiency (nobody really cares about efficiency anyways) but AMD is still very competitive, somehow even though AMD is in a worse position (no high-end hardware, and polaris failed to meet expectations) than before they are actually gaining marketshare :D

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.
