I remember long time ago when Yahoo Messenger was still a thing some random dude talked to me. The funny thing he used (I assume) my second yahoo account and talk casually like "Hey haven't seen you for long".

Probably a Zeus Trojan, took care of it myself with scavenging my System. Who needs anti-wiruses when you know how to program?

I don't know how it's called anymore but it would ruin every .exe file and add a message something similar to "the dragon has appeared" or something silly.

Also i had one that made all my drive names into questionmarks and other weird things, took me months to get rid of that one but in the end it was stupidly easy to get rid of.

Just a bit of handy work in winrar and it was gone :D It placed an exe and autorun file on every drive so it would spread instantly to every device it got connected to, aaanyway that was a long time ago :D

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

McAfee.
I've had a computer lock up on me because of this preinstalled erroneously designed software disguised as antivirus bloatware.

One reboot to safe mode, and another 10 minutes waiting for control panel to open (on a brand new win10 laptop), I managed to uninstall it.

I'd rather use stock windows without antivirus than let that be installed with Adobe Flash update.

My parents managed to infect their computer with one of those ransom-ware "antivirus" viruses. It'd pop up and not let you do ANYTHING until you "paid" for it. Luckily this was long before they had the ability to encrypt your HDD.

It took me hours to defeat this stupid thing. It wouldn't let you download antivirus programs, it wouldn't let antivirus programs launch that were already installed. It would redirect you away from any sites that would help you solve the problem. It was a total pain to get rid of. This was before the days of me knowing how to use linux and before the days of USB bootable drives.

Eventually a judicious application of safe mode along with removing VERY specific files within the system folder manually allowed me to run a bunch of different antivirus programs which eventually killed it.

If it were my computer now, I'd simply reinstall windows. However, this was my parents computer with all of their pictures, movies, tax information, programs, etc. on it.

It was also before the days of me knowing how to pull files like that off of a drive to another PC.

Personally, I've never had anything other than that stupid USB virus that infects most college campuses. It basically replaces the autorun file on the USB to it's own distribution program, so it'd infect the PC you plugged the USB into, then the PC would infect any other USB plugged into it.

I never found out what it actually DID. Nor did I care. If it watched me? So what, it'll see me playing games and watching porn. Keylogger? Hope they're ready to look at lots of wwadsdwadswdsswassddwadasdwwwwaaaddwssssawdwadwsad.

I do my banking on my mac so... yeah. Viruses don't really bother me unless they affect my system performance.

Honestly never had anything but my friend got sasser and it spread across every PC in his house, his brothers PC got it first closely followed by his dad's PC then his mum's laptop.

I spent an entire day trying to remove it but failed dismally and ended up reformatting 4 PCs.

It was then I found out he had burned an infected file to a CD while I was trying to remove it so everytime I got rid of it he restored said file and it came back again.

I had some fun destroying that CD with a brick in his back garden though ;)

Last time anything happened to me was back in early days of xp when I still paid for antivirus. It was some kind of redirect loop on my web browser. It was an easy fix there was a removal tool floating around for it. And tanks to some of the file sharing programs having their own built in web browsers it wasn't hard to get.

Since then all the problems I've had are with antivirus software not viruses.

>inb4 hacking the game because I am bad.

It was 2015, H1Z1 came out and my friend bought it for me so we can rekt kids in the game. Few months go by and I had the thought of hacking the game on old account so I don't get a vacation on main. I decide to download it. I run it cause I am dumb and hope it works. I go take a shower and come back. I see my skype account has been logged out and shows the login screen to skype. I log in and talk to my friends about what happened.

"Nice voice changer dude" my friend said.

I reply "What are you talking about? I was in the shower, I got logged out of my account."

My friend reply's back to me "Oh, really? Cause some guy joined the call and had a deep voice and I said your name."

I cry a little knowing that he knows my name now and skype login info. I go to check my social medias. They are running super slow and getting only HTML pages that are blank with only text, just bare bones. I go to steam cause it was my baby and I was logged out and there was no mobile authentication in those days, it was do or die. I check my email and reset my password to something better than it was before, and did that to all previous sites that I was logged into. Everything was fixed but the virus was scary, never had someone log onto my facebook and stuff knowing my location.

Never download something without checking it. Use virus total or get Chinese antivirus software.
