ASUS, MSI and XFX all have coolers that run cooler and quieter.

 

The card I have, if only running stock 1342MHz, the cooler is kind of ok. However if I try to overclock it. The cooler is just not up to the job.

My 480 won't do 1400. Even ran into trouble at 1350. I went back to default. (MSI reference 8 gig)

Are you using WattMan? If you are, don't. Wattman is junk software that needs to be scrapped until AMD figures what they really wanna do with that software. Use MSI Afterburner and 1st thing to do is increase the power limit to the max.
