Can you explain your finding a bit more?

It's in other posts but essentially the gpus will only in 8x/4x so no sli instead of 8x/8x even with just 1 it's only 8x. Only the chipset slot will run at 16x. This happend suddenly and for no apparent reason.... the only component that haS not been swapped out to test is the cpu. I'm starting to Miss my old 3930k.... but you can't be it's board anymore.

What motherboard are you using?

What slot is running at x8? And which is running at x16?

The max speed any of the first 3 slots will run at is x8... so two cards is x8 x4 but 1 card should be x16 and 2 x8 X8. Only one that will run at x16 is slot 4 which runs on the chipset and cannot be used for sli

The specifications of the motherboard says the top slot runs at x16, and the second one will run at x8 when the first slot is populated. If the first three slots are populated, the top slot will run at x8, while the other two will run at x4.

The last remaining PCIe x16 slot runs at x4.

!!!!!!SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!!!!

The board is indeed bad this has been determined by me as well as the tech people so indeed my board broke and asus sent me back another broken one.... this is the first possability. The only other one is the fact that maybe my 850w power supply is to small for this setup....considering i rarely see it draw over 400 this is unlikley but possible or a bad psu. Either way the board is broken that is the problem. Weather i got a bad one, the psu killed it or the psu is too small is not somthing i can figure out but it indeed is once again a bad motherboard.... My advice to people... if you plan to do sli..... and a real gaming setup.... spend the extra money and go to the x99 chipset.

A power supply delivering too low of current would not cause the above issue. In addition, a consumer mainstream setup is totally fine for most people.

Welp then i just got 2 bad boards.....I had pros look at it.... weeks of me trouble shooting and the only possible explanation is either a psu burned out part of the board due to power strarvation or just 2 defective boards.

Did fhe "pros" tell you that the board could have died from "power starvation." If so that is complete bullshit, and they don't know how a motherboard works.

When a computer cannot get enough power it will just not turn on, or crash if it draws more power then the psu can supply. The psu is so much more likely to die in that situation.

But even if you scratched the surface on a motherboard you could have destroy a trace of two, or a short somewhere on the board like in the pcie socket, or cpu socket, or internally in the pcb is much more likely, probabbly a manufacturing defect which is why RMAs exist.
