Which 1080 should I buy?

Owlman

My question is which 1080 I should go with? Preferably with an open air cooler, or maybe a hybrid cooler. Looking for the best performance.

titan x or wait for 1080ti .. performance between the1080 have been proven to be pretty much negligible. many people have gotten the founders card to overclock the best due ui to better quality components.

If you want to buy now save some money and just buy the cheapest 1080 with an aftermarket cooler so you don't have a jet engine in the case.

then cheapest 1080 with an aftermarket cooler, the hybrid water cooled ones and stuff may get you like 2 fps better frame rates .. not worth the buy

EVGA Hybrid. It's quiet, can allow for a bit more overclocking (not much I know), and doesn't collect much dust. My 980Ti has been a beast, cleaned it out after three months use and barely had anything collect on it. Granted I don't overclock, but it's nice to know my headroom to do so is pretty high.

EVGA is defiantly one of the best cards you can get for a 1080, the FTW version.

Having bought one already (I read a lot of reviews) the Palit Gamerock Premium is great, it's cheaper than a lot, has RGB lighting, and good cooling and it's one of the fastest out of the box. However it doesnt come with the fantastic support which comes with EVGA cards

I see many people recommending the EVGA FTW. I own two, but after the recent discovery of a poor PCB layout causing dangerously hot VRMs / VRAM sections, I honestly can't recommend them over the ASUS Strix. Also, you may still have a chance of receiving an EVGA FTW card that suffers from a seperate hardware issue that causes black screens. Apparently only EVGA FTW cards manufactured after August 31st have had this issue fixed. To be fair, I have not had any issues with my cards (yet), but I know lots of others who have. I will be installing the free thermal pads that EVGA is offering to 1080 FTW owners to fix their poor design.
