Looking for a headset/headphones!

Hi!

I just dropped my pair of Astro A50's on the ground and now the sound in the left ear is f**ked.

I'm looking for a good headset or headphones. I've seen other people doing this use thing so i'll do it aswell.

Use: Gaming (CS:GO, H1Z1, DayZ etc.)

Budget: 255€ ($280)

I was thinking about getting a mod mic and I think it's a pretty good idea. What do you think?

Hello fellow swede!

I think you should go to a local store and test some headphones/headsets out. Only you can tell what you really want. if you want some help along the way you can check this out:

It's a very solid guide about some headphones after price, with some comments about them.

I would personally however recommend headphones over headsets, I find gaming headsets too expensive compared to what they perform.

In my experience headphones offer richer sound than headphones in most cases.

In the end good headsets are good headsets, and bad headsets are bad. Same goes for headphones.

But the guide I linked will give you a better feeling of what to look for if you end up choosing headphones!

Note that some don't exist in Sweden (ja det suger fett), so you might have to order some of them.

Please don't get one of the shitty logitech or Corsair headsets.

Do you want an open back or closed back design? What kind of sound signature?

I own a Logitech G930 and let me tell you, ever since i upgraded to a real pair of headphones (see in my sig, DT880 was first), i realized how shitty this thing is.

Corsair thing is probably the sameso meh.

Get real headphones and enjoy a much much better experience in gaming, music and comfort.

I have the G430's Which are 7.1 Surround Sound and the audio quality is on point, i have used some of my friends headsets that are $200 more then mine and only difference is comfort and mic quality, the sound is about the same imo

friends headsets

Here's your problem.

There are a few headsets that are actually good.

7.1 Surround sound is just a gimmick and does literally nothing. If you like it then why not, but every headphone can do this. (or don't do this because, like i said, it's a gimmick).

If you'll ever wear a real headphone, even in the lower price ranges, you'll see what i mean. They are literally uncomparable in terms of sound quality.

1) I use 7.1 ONLY when gaming as for music is crackles to much but in games it does make a difference, for example in Rainbow Six Siege i can tell where enemies are from the sounds.

2) The sound quality is on Par as i said before, it sounds decent and with some tinkering with the Logitech Software you can make them sound great!

1. gr8 m8 i can do the same with my 2 Driver headphones that are running in stereo mode on my two ears.

2. Still no, like I said above. I have tried numerous headphones ranging from 7€ to multiple thousand euros and i can tell you, there is a big difference.

Ofc you don't have to spend 5000€ to notice a difference, but even a 150€ headphones destroys a 150€ headset. And yes, it also destroys your whatever-They-costs G430s.

1. Yeah right, you are one of those guys, some like virtual surround some don't, but EVERYONE can agree on that headphones with a big or huge soundstage are insanely good for positional audio and you can get virtual surround on all headphones or headsets

2. Sure against other shitsets, but shitsets are not real headphones. I have currently tried over 150 headphones and most likely close to 200 and you can clearly hear a difference when you move a price tier up, with headphones that are great for their price vs more expensive headphones that are meh/ok for the price it is harder to tell the difference

gonna drop in my opinion quite brief, i have a lot of experience with headsets (breaking..) and i've come to this conclusion in terms of recommendations:

- if you want a headSET (aka with microphone) hyperx cloud something is the way to go.

- if you want headPHONES (aka without micrphone) probably best to listen to @FloRolf, dude knows what's up.

Only the new one, yes.

But for 1/5 the price you can get the SR-009 which sound really close, if not better.

They are just not as cool ;)

tbh, with unlimited budget, i'd go straight back to tubes for all my audio gear in a heartbeat :P

one of my speakers is powered by one of these, and it's the best sounding piece of equipment i have:

hsv40t_92186.jpg

it's not tube, but it's a solid state from when they just started to roll out, the heatup time is stupid (a few minutes in winter..), it kicks out a ton of heat, but because it's one of those early ones it has that tube vibe to it it's just unbeatable :P
