Strafe all the way! I'm getting mine (non-RGB with Browns) tomorrow, will let you know. PM me if you want detailed info, maybe on Sat or something.

Corsair's RGB software for the Strafe RGB is friggin amazing btw

I agree with all of this. However, Razer makes their own switches now, Kailh doesn't make them. Honestly they are probably worse off for making them in house lol

Proof that they make their own switches? Almost certain that Kalih produces the switches and Razer just slaps their name on it.

if you have tried the corsair software what one do you prefer

I prefer the ease of key function customization Synapse offers.

But overall, I'll take Corsair's CUE software any day of the week. There's far more in terms of stock lighting options and it doesn't cause any noticeable performance hit on my 5930K.

They used to do that, but AFAIK they started making them this year. However, some sites say that some new 2016 edition, non-Chroma keyboards are going back to Cherry. Corsair or CoolerMaster is a better option IMO

No personal experience but heard nothing but good things!

So far looks like most people agree that, in no particular order,

Corsair (Strafe or K70)

CoolerMaster (Maskterkeys Pro S/M/L)

Ducky

WASD

are all far better options than the Blackwidow lineup

Kailh actually makes decent switches. Razer's switches are plasticy-feeling, too loud, and terribly heavy.

neat. did you swap the keycaps?

No. I like the ones on there. Nice texture and easy to see the lighting.

Full disclosure- I got one from the first batch of Shine 5's, which had some LED issues. My keyboard's left spacebar LED doesn't shine any blue, so it looks weird.. My keyboard is actually in a box in my room, never shipped back to mecanicalkeyboards.com for repair. Oops. I'm kinda spooked, cause if they replace it, I'll lose the signatures I got on the back.

I would personally go with the K70 RGB. I have one myself with Brown switches and I love it! I pair the keyboard with the M65 RGB as well. (As you can see, I love RGB). What types of games are you playing MOBA/FPS. Because the M65 is an FPS mouse. The K70 does not have dedicated macro keys.

Then I think that if you want RGB and Cherry MX. switches other than Red, get the K70. Otherwise, get the Strafe.

Can't speak much about the mouses but, I've tried the k95 (MX browns) before with it's metal body and all and now I have the Strafe RGB in MX Browns. The build quality and sturdyness on the strafe is solid, barely any flex when I try the flex test and mind you, I'm trying to flex it with a lot of strength, the same goes for the k95 of course given it's metal body but the fact that the strafe can hold it's own with a plastic outer cover is really nice.

The lighting on the strafe is better than the k95 and k70 as well due to the white back plate which really makes the RGB show it's 'true colours' (hah) more. Deal breaker? Yes, if lighting is of importance to you.

One thing I really disliked about the k95 and will be the same with the k70 was that sometimes I'd accidentally hinder the edge of the keyboard and it being metal, you could scratch yourself, of course if you're really careful that won't happen but with all things considered it'll happen at least once or twice. With the strafe, the plastic cover doesn't feel as sharp if you manage to snag your arm or hand against it. Deal breaker? No but, it's to be considered.

Price is of course cheaper on the Strafe but for the extra dollars you get what you pay for on the k70, especially if the metal body is out of the question. The extra things you get are the media controls and scroll volume wheel. It's up to you, do you feel that you need the media keys and volume wheel? If so, then go for the k70, if not then go for the Strafe.

Overall you can't go wrong with either one.
