Cheap CPU now, or wait for Zen?

Hey guys,

I know that there isn't really a whole lot of info out right now regarding Zen, but I was curious as to whether you guys think I should grab an i3 6100 right now, grab a G4400, grab an Athlon X4 860, an FX-6300 or wait a few months for Zen. I have looked into this and it appears that both the 6300 and the G4400 are outstripped by the 6100 easily, but I'm just curious as to what you guys think is right. Looking at what LogicalIncrements says, it appears that an 860 is the right option, but I figured that it would be cool to get a second opinion.

Thanks!

Just wait if you can. If you're attempting to go to Zen, you'd be wasting money on some parts that you'd have to sell later.

if you really need a computer right now i would get a the i36100 just for the upgrade path so if zen shits out then there is a backup plan that doesn't involve selling and re-buying

I would just save up a bit more get an i5 that will last a while, if not an i3 6100 can still handle gpus like the rx 460, or gtx 1060, it isn't a bad cpu.

What will you be using the PC for?

An HTPC, web browsing/movie streaming or a light to moderate gaming PC will do fine with a lower end CPU but any more modern/intensive gaming would warrant waiting/saving for a better CPU.

I'd never suggest buying a cheap CPU and motherboard with the intentions of swapping them out in a short period of time as you just end up spending a lot more in the long run.
