Positive or Negative

So I just switched my 2 NZXT case fans in my S340 to the front for intake and positive air pressure and I get a 15ish degree spike in CPU temps to 58c average from 43 average. Should I go back to negative air pressure and get more dust or positive and get less but higher temps?

I would place one (exhaust) above the CPU with the CPU fan blowing towards it and the 2nd in front (intake).

I always say positive pressure is best, though I may be biased because I live with 3 dogs and WILL NOT have any hair in my case. However I've never seen a change in fan config affect temps that much, are you sure there were no other variables here?

I have a stock cooler lol. Im planning on getting more in 2 weeks so Ill do that till then

Huh, odd. I guess it must affect it more when using a stock cooler.

A simple rule is

 

- Positive: Better dust management (provided you have filters on your intakes)

- Negative: Better cooling (but filtering intakes will not do very much at all and dust will pile up in the small entrances to the case)

I have three dogs (schnauzers) and a cat as well and I've never had hair in my case. Best thing would be to balance the flows so that you have a little more pressure in one direction through RPM and not amount of fans.

How can I control not PWM fans? They only have 3 slots on the header

Yeah the positive pressure doesn't need to be very strong, just enough that it's not negative and therefore pulling stuff into all the little nooks and crannies.

You should still be able to control them to a certain extent through BIOS. Instead of using PWM control I believe the motherboard will simply give them more or less power.

A PWM adapter or via the BIOS.

You can usually control 3pin fans with sys/cha_fan headers on the motherboard.
