I'm looking for the best graphics card that can be used by my 300w power supply(Fujitsu high efficiency with a maximum output of 310w). I currently have an MSI GTX 750 Ti Gaming 2G card with a Xeon X3440 and 8 gb of ram. I really want to buy a better card. I was thinking of the GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1060 or Rx 470. Is it possible to run a GTX 1060 without killing my psu?

You're gonna want a better PSU. Try and buy a Seasonic 600w PSU.

If you want a GTX 1060 then you'll need 600w.

That's what nvidia says. I don't trust them anymore.

Then don't buy Nvidia products.

I don't trust your sense of judgement on what you should use......... Just buy an ok PSU and a nice GPU.

Lol I thought they needed a 600w PSU xDWell whatever. PSU's operate best at 50% efficiency give or take.

My grammar today :D. I'm so tired. PSUs operate most efficiently at 50% load.

The only problem is that i have a pre-built fujitsu workstation with a BTX mobo.

psu mobo and cpu connectors? any chance the mounting holes and size fits a standard atx psu?

Well, the truth is that the recommended power supply does include some headroom.

You could run a GTX-1060 on a 300watt supply, IF you don't stress it too much. Keep the graphics settings to medium, and use vsync to limit frames and it might work.

However, I would recommend just getting a GTX-1050 - or- maybe a better idea, if your case fits a standard PSU would be to get a better PSU now and get a better GPU later.

BTX motherboards use a standard ATX power supply.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

The cpu connentor is a regular 4 pin one but i don't know for sure that the 24 pin is normal or something special like HP.

i think you should be able to fit a standard atx psu into the btx system, if the mobo connectors are proprietary you should be able to find an adaptor for it.

Yes, but the difference is usually only 1 or 2%. It's not cost effective to spend an extra $25 or so on a larger power supply, to save $1 a year (or less) on your power bill.

That was just one factor lol :). There are many factors such as Efficiency levels like 80+, 80+ Gold, 80+ Titanium.........

And how well a PSU can deliver power on a single 12v rail.

If that pc is able to run a 960 then mine should be do the same with the 1060 cause the tdp is the same.

TDP isn't power consumption. The 1060 should draw less power.
