Hello!

I'm rocking a i7 4930k (LGA2011 - 6c/12t - Ivy Bridge-E - 22mm) overclocked to 3,9GHz @ 1150v. Keeping it cool is the CM Hyper 212 EVO, and mounted on a X79 Deluxe MOBO. My idle temps jumps anywhere from 37-42c with a room temp of 22ish c. Shouldn't idle temps be lower than high 30s/low 40s? It's not even getting 1.2V...!

Main:  1650 v2   @ 4,6GHz   -   X79 Deluxe                -   GTX 1080 @ 2000MHz   -   24GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz / CL10

Side:   i7-4790K @ 4,5GHz   -   Maximus 7 Hero        -   GTX 1070 @ 2114MHz    -  16GB DDR3 @ 2666MHz / CL12

Idle temps don't matter for the most part. Run a stress test. That temp matters.

Too many things affect idle temps, like fan curve, how many background processes are running, etc.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

Maybe it's spiking to over 1kV every now and then? /s

My 4790k idles rn at 50c, lmao (its cause my exhaust is too weak and I'm too lazy to add more fans)

It should be fine 37-42c is perfectly fine

I'm using 2x 140mm intakes (front), and 1x 140mm exhaust (rear).

Max temp of 60c after 8 hours of different stress tests. But what I don't get is 42c on FULL idle! Using standard fan speed for CPU fan in BIOS. There are no software/background stuff up, and both monitors off, mouse/keyboard untouched for an hour and still jumping up to 42c. I guess I'm safe, but still wondering why it jumps so much from 37-42 on full idle

Idle temps don't matter. Far too many things can affect them. Unless they are crazy excessively high then there's nothing to worry about. Keep in mind you have an entry level cooler on a hot running chip.

Now if it really bothers you check to make sure the cpu downclocks to 800 mhz at idle
